The Hope College Wind Ensemble and the Faculty and Student Collaborative Ensemble (FASCE) will perform a concert on Monday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
The Wind Ensemble will open the concert with “Rapsodia Sefaradi,” by Alexander F. Travossos. The program will continue with the FASCE brass performing “Symphony in Brass” by Eric Ewazen, followed by the FASCE percussion with the “Angels of the Apocalypse,” by David R. Gillingham. After intermission, the FASCE winds will perform “Consort for Ten Winds,” by Robert Spittal. The Wind Ensemble and FASCE will conclude the program with “The Frozen Cathedral,” by John Mackey.
The Hope College Wind Ensemble is the premier wind group on the Hope campus, and performs a wide variety of music, from standard works, to cutting-edge, 20th-century works, to chamber pieces. The Wind Ensemble performs several concerts each semester both on-campus and off-campus, including a Halloween concert and during Musical Showcase. The Wind Ensemble is directed by Gabe Southard, associate professor of music.
The Faculty and Student Collaborative Ensemble (FASCE) ensemble was created in 2015 to showcase the college’s top performers and music majors. Students involved with the group sit side-by-side with Hope faculty members and perform advanced repertoire. The FASCE ensemble is also directed by Gabe Southard.
The Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts is located at 221 Columbia Ave., between Ninth and 10th streets.
