The De Pree Art Center and Gallery at Hope College will present the exhibition “Flight” featuring work by Melissa Hopson from Friday, Feb. 22, through Thursday, March 14.
Hopson will deliver an artist’s lecture on Friday, Feb. 22, at 3:30 p.m. at the De Pree Art Center and Gallery, with an opening reception following.
The public is invited to the lecture, reception and exhibition. Admission is free to each.
“Flight” will feature an array of objects, sculptures, and drawings. The exhibit represents a metaphor that describes an urgency of action and feeling.
Hopson works in sculpture and mixed media. Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, she studied sculpture at the Dusseldorf Art Academy and has had her work in multiple exhibitions, including in Indiana, New York, Germany, Puerto Rico and Switzerland.
The De Pree Art Center and Gallery is located at 275 Columbia Ave., between 10th and 13th streets. The gallery is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
