The Hope College Concert Band will perform on Thursday, April 11, at 7 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The concert’s “Springs Forward” title reflects the program’s thematic emphasis on movement, momentum and drive. The pieces to be performed range from Abraham’s heroic pursuit to rescue his family members, to the jaunty dances of Shakespeare’s Illyria.

The Concert Band is directed by Dr. Anand Raj Sukumaran, who is director of bands and an assistant professor of music at Hope College. This marks his first semester at Hope, his fourth year as a college professor and his 18th year as a music educator. In addition to directing the band program, he also teaches courses in world music and guitar.
