The Hope College Department of Music will present “Liederabend: German Art Song Recital” on Monday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m. in the John and Dede Howard Recital Hall in the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
The recital will feature the singers enrolled in “Diction for Singers II (German Diction).” In the class, the students have worked to improve their German language and pronunciation skills. They have learned musical German vocabulary and listened to a variety of German repertoire.
The program will consist of songs by W.A. Mozart, Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Hugo Wolf, Johannes Brahms, Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, Clara Wieck Schumann and Emilie Mayer. Texts and translations will be provided.
The students who will be singing are Maicee Bishop (soprano), Jackson Hagood (tenor), Aletheia Hoffman (soprano), Bella Morales (soprano), Kate Nelson(soprano) and Will Walker(tenor) accompanied by pianist Jane Bosko.
