Elizabeth CouncilDigital Strategist
Elizabeth serves Hope College as a digital strategist and integrated marketer in the Office of Public Affairs and Marketing.
Her background is in leading successful multichannel communication and media campaigns across the web, social media and traditional media placement. At Hope, Elizabeth manages the college’s institutional social media accounts and digital advertising, and serves as a liason and consultant to other campus partners on creating strategies to better tell Hope’s stories in a digital medium through social media, blogs, email newsletters, web copy and marketing campaigns.
Elizabeth started her career as a newspaper reporter at the state capitol covering Michigan government for various news organizations. She's worked over the years as a reporter and copy editor, has owned small businesses, and has extensive experience in marketing and advertising for business and non-profit, including higher education.

Outside the college
When not working, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her daughters and husband along the Lake Michigan shoreline and at her vacation home "up north." She's a big fan of Michigan's craft beer scene, hunting for vintage treasures at flea markets and estate sales, and cooking for her friends and family. She also enjoys talking about music and politics.
Elizabeth is an active volunteer in the Muskegon area with various organizations including the Mona Shores school district and Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Norton Shores, and has served on the Board of Directors for Pioneer Resources and the steering committee for TEDxMuskegon.
