Robert Killips
Adjunct Faculty
Rob Killips, adjunct professor of Music, is a Michigan-based musician and educator who brings extensive experience in higher education, applied music instruction and professional performance to his work with students. He has served as an adjunct professor at Michigan State University, Hillsdale College and Hope College, teaching Survey of American Music for non-majors and providing private instruction in trombone, euphonium, tuba and improvisation. At Hope College, he also serves as assistant conductor of the Jazz Arts Collective.
Alongside his teaching, he maintains an active career as a performer and is recognized as a first-call musician in Michigan. He performs as a member of the The Fisher Theatre Orchestra in Detroit and has played with national touring Broadway productions including Chicago, Wicked, MJ, Some Like It Hot, Les Misérables, Funny Girl, and Mean Girls. His performance credits also include appearances at Devos Theater and Little Caesar’s Arena with The Who, The Temptations, Blur, Hugh Jackman, Arturo Sandoval, Kurt Elling, Aretha Franklin, and the Detroit Jazz Festival Orchestra, as well as touring in 47 countries around the world.
