The Hope College cross country teams have been
honored for academic excellence by the National College Cross
Country Coaches Association.
The programs honors NCAA Division III teams who maintained a
minimum cumulative 3.0 grade point average during the fall
semester.
It marks the eighth consecutive year that both Hope teams,
coached by Mark Northuis, have been honored. The women's team
maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.46 while the men's cross average
was 3.27.
Six Hope student-athletes are members of the individual
honor roll for maintaining a minimum 3.5 grade point average.
They are Stacy Brown, a senior from Laingsburg (Laingsburg HS);
Janette (Molly) Griebe, a junior from Chelsea (Chelsea HS);
Jeffrey Kauffman, a sophomore from Minnetonka, Minn. (Minnetonka
HS); Ellen Schultz, a senior from Maple City (Maple City-Glen
Lake HS); Rebecca Timmer, a junior from Pella, Iowa (Pella HS)
and Joseph Veldman, a freshman from Sawyer (Three Oaks-River
Valley HS).
