Hope College has placed six players on the 2000 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) all- conference softball team.
The Flying Dutch finished in second place in the MIAA standings and posted an overall 21-16 record.
Hope players voted to the All-MIAA first team include junior pitcher Kim Grotenhuis of Hamilton, Mich. (Hamilton HS), senior shortstop Heather Roy of Alpena, Mich. (Alpena HS) and junior catcher Carrie Scott of Centreville, Mich.(Centreville HS).
Named to the All-MIAA second team were senior outfielder Angie Ciesielski of Linden (Linden HS), freshman outfielder/designated hitter Kathi Grotenhuis of Hamilton, Mich. (Hamilton HS) and senior third baseman Sarah Paccione of Kalamazoo (Portage Central HS).
Grotenhuis and Scott are being recognized as first-team for the second straight year.
This season Grotenhuis posted a 7-2 record in regular season conference games and posted an overall 16-6 mark with a school-record earned average of 0.96. Scott set a school record for home runs in a season (8) while batting .358 overall and .348 in league games. Roy led all Hope hitters in league games (.366) and batted .320 overall.
