Hope College junior Josh Boss of Jenison, Mich. (Jenison HS) will be competing in the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials.

The Olympic Trials will be held August 9-16 in Indianapolis. Out of the competition 26 men and 26 women will be selected to represent the United States at the September Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

Boss will be competing in the 100-meter breaststroke (Aug. 9-10) and the 200-meter breaststroke (Aug. 12-13). He will be swimming under the auspices of the West Michigan Swim Club.

Boss is the two-time (1999 and 2000) NCAA Division III national champion in the 200-yard breaststroke. He also won the NCAA championship in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1999. He holds the Division III national record in both events.

He is the second Hope swimmer to qualify for the Olympic Trials. Rob Peel, a 1987 Hope graduate, qualified in 1988, 1992 and 1996 in the freestyle sprints.
