Work by eight Hope College students is on display in the Muiderman Art Hall in the college's department of economics and business administration.
There will be a reception for the artists on
Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 6:30 p.m. in room 185 of Van Zoeren
Hall. The exhibition will continue through Thursday, Nov.
30.
The public is invited to both the exhibition and
the reception. Admission is free.
The exhibition in the department's "mini-gallery"
includes painting, photography, prints, bronze sculpture and
drawing. The students with work included are: junior Jenna
Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio; sophomore Arianna Baker of
Wheaton, Ill.; sophomore Daniel Berhanemeskel of Aksum,
Tigray, Ethiopia; sophomore Cheri Cecil of Haslett; senior
Lauren Hermes of Arlington Heights, Ill.; senior Janel
Miller of Holland; freshman Craig Preston of Holland; and
senior Jeff Wilcox of Saline.
The Muiderman Art Hall developed through the
efforts of Dr. Robin Klay, professor of economics and
business administration, who felt that the bare walls in her
department provided an ideal opportunity to feature creative
work by Hope students. The hall was dedicated in May of
2000 in honor of long-time Hope faculty member Anthony
Muiderman, who retired last year as professor emeritus of
business administration, in recognition of his long-standing
interest in the arts.
The department is located in the DeWitt Center for
Economics and Business Administration, which stands between
Van Zoeren Hall and the Van Wylen Library. The main
entrance faces Graves Place (11th Street) between Central
and College avenues.
