Heather Maas has been named director of conference services at Hope College.

The college's facilities coordinator since 1999, she comes to the position well familiar with Hope's conference services program, according to Greg Maybury, who is director of operations and technology at Hope. "We're fortunate to have Heather, who having been a student is very familiar with the campus, and has served the campus well these past years as facilities coordinator," he said.

The Office of Conference Services coordinates the scheduling, planning and operation of conferences, institutes, workshops and special programs on the hope campus, and works with both on-campus and off-campus organizations. The summer is particularly busy for the office, with more than 50 groups, many requiring on-campus housing, having scheduled events from mid-May through mid-August.

Maas, who is a 1998 Hope graduate, assumed her new duties at the beginning of the month. The previous director of conference services, Barbara Schipper, retired at the end of March.

The Office of Conference Services is located in the college's Haworth Inn and Conference Center. In addition to Maas, the office staff consists of the full-time facilities coordinator and three students who work with the program full-time during the summer.
