A wedding anniversary celebration gone awry creates loads of rumors and laughter when Hope Summer Repertory Theatre opens Neil Simon's Rumors in the DeWitt Theatre at 8 p.m. on June 29.

When the first couple arrives and discovers the disaster, they decide to cover-up for their well-connected friends. As the next three couples arrive, the rumors grow into a dizzying array of laughter. Only the arrival of the police could make it any worse, and when they do arrive, the couples improvise a hilarious illusion of normalcy.

The HSRT cast brings together many audience favorites, as well as some new members. Equity Guests Artists involved include Dana Snyder (Irma Vep, Man of La Mancha), James Saba (The Nerd, Irma Vep), HSRT Artistic Director David Colacci (Billy Bishop, The Odd Couple), Chip DuFord (Joseph, Chaps), and Brandy McClendon (Sylvia, Charlie Brown). The play also features Elizabeth Loos (G.I Jive, Joseph), Jill MacLean, Julie Williams, Blaine Cook, and David Romero.

Working with all this talent is OBIE award-winning director, Thomas Bullard, who directed last year's hit comedy, The Mystery of Irma Vep. Some of his other HSRT direct credits include 1776, To Kill A Mockingbird, Man of La Mancha, and Sylvia.

After opening night, Rumors will also play on June 30, July 6, 9, 11, 13, 14, 18, 24, and 26. Two shows have already sold out, so tickets should be purchased soon.

While at the box office be sure to reserve tickets for the other great HSRT productions, including L. Frank Baum's The Wizard of Oz, Lyle Kessler's Orphans, the popular Educating Rita, a rock n' roll version of Shakespeare's The Two Gentlemen of Verona, and the cabaret show at the Via Maria restaurant, He Loves, She Loves. In addition, the Children's Performance troupe is presenting The New Kid and a recent adaptation of The Ugly Duckling.

Tickets are available now. The ticket office is located in the DeWitt Center, on the Hope College campus at the corner of 12th Street and Columbia Avenue. Prices range from $8-$24 for musicals, and $6 to $18 for plays. Season coupons are also available and offer several ways to save money for the whole season. Ticket office hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday; noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday; and one hour before all show times. Tickets may also be purchased by calling (616) 395-7890.
