Sophomore Jennifer Price of Battle Creek (Lakeview HS) achieved NCAA All-America honors as she finished seventh in the 800-meter run at the Division III championships held at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn.

The race was won by Liz Woodworth, also a sophomore, from Wisc.-Oshkosh in 2:09.06. Price was timed in 2:12.32.

Price advanced to the finals by finishing third among 18 entrants in Friday's trials. She came to nationals seeded eighth. Her Friday time of 2:10.75 was a Hope record. As a freshman Price was ninth at nationals in the 800.

Hope's other qualifier for nationals, sophomore Christy Watkin of Holland (West Ottawa HS), just missed advancing to the finals in the long jump. Her distance of 17 feet, 9 1/2 inches in the trials was three-quarters of an inch shy of making it into the finals. She ended 10th after being seeded 18th in the field of 19 qualifiers. Waktin was competing at the national meet for the first time after establishing a Hope mark of 18 feet, 3 3/4 inches.
