Three members of Hope's MIAA champion Flying Dutch swimming team have qualified for the NCAA Division III women's championships to be held March 13-15 in Atlanta, Ga.

Three members of Hope's MIAA champion Flying Dutch swimming team have qualified for the NCAA Division III women's championships to be held March 13-15 in Atlanta, Ga.

All three will be competing in multiple individual events.

Senior Kelly Parker of Battle Creek, Mich. (Lakeview HS) has qualified in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.26) where she is seeded 19th and will also be eligible to compete in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.79). She is the two-time defending MIAA champion in both events. Parker qualified for nationals in both events in 2001, finishing 19th in the 100 and 29th in the 200.

Junior Michelle Smith of Olympia, Wash. has qualified in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:35.89) where she is seeded 18th and is also eligible to compete in the 200 (1:55.96) and 500 (5:06.99) freestyle events. She is the three-time defending MIAA champion in the 500 and 1,650. Smith qualified for nationals in all three events in 2001, finishing 17th in the 200, 25th in the 500 and 23rd in the 1,650.

Junior Audrey Arnold of Richmond, Ind. has qualified in the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.37) where she is seeded 14th. She is also eligible to compete in the 100 backstroke (:59.85) and 200 backstroke (2:09.39). She will be competing at nationals for the first time. This year she won the MIAA titles in the 100 and 200 back for a third consecutive and was runner-up in the 200 IM.
