Six Hope athletes have been named to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) all-conference track & field teams.
The conference championship meet was held last weekend with the Flying Dutch finishing second in the women's meet and the Flying Dutchmen ending third among the men.
Senior Ed Perez of Hopkins, Mich. (Hopkins HS) was named an All-MIAA men's honoree for a fourth consecutive year. He won the conference championship in the 400 meter hurdles for a third year.
Flying Dutch achieving All-MIAA recognition were senior Karen Clark of Midland, Mich. (Midland HS), senior Brooke Oosting of Grand Rapids , Mich. (Calvin Christian HS), senior Kristen Post of Holland, Mich. (West Ottawa HS), sophomore Emily Schlitz of Potterville, Mich. (Potterville HS), and junior Christy Watkin of Holland, Mich. (West Ottawa HS).
Watkin, the league champion in the long jump and triple jump, is being honored for the third year while Schlitz, a two-time MIAA titlist in the javelin, is All-MIAA for the second consecutive year.
Oosting capped her collegiate career by winning MIAA gold in 400-meter dash. Clark was the league runner-up in the 100-meter dash and third in the 200 while Post finished second in 5,000 meters and third in the 10,000.
