Senior outfielder Mike Van Beek of Hudsonville (Unity Christian HS) has been honored for his play on the baseball field and in the classroom.
The holder of several Hope records, Van Beek has been voted to the All-Mideast Region first team by the American College Baseball Coaches Association.
He has also been named to the Verizon Academic All-District second team.
Co-captain of this year's MIAA championship team, Van Beek was voted the most valuable player by conference coaches. He ended his collegiate career as Hope's all-time leader in hits, doubles, total bases and RBIs. He majored in history at Hope.
