Hope College sophomore Andy Phillips of White Pigeon, Mich. (Sturgis HS) has been named to the Great Lake all-district first team in basketball.
The honor teams recognizing players from the eight districts in NCAA Division III are chosen by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The honorees become eligible for All-America consideration.
Phillips was voted the most valuable player in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). The Flying Dutchmen were conference champions.
Two other MIAA players received all-district second team honors -- Travis DePree of Albion and Dan Aultman of Calvin.
