Three players from Hope's MIAA co-champion women's soccer team have been presented all-region Division III honors by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
The Great Lakes region consists of NCAA Division III colleges in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania.
Junior defender Rachael Sauerman of Naperville, Ill. (Naperville North HS) was named to the first team. Sophomore midfielder Ellie Tresslar of Bloomington, Ind. (Bloomington HS) received second team recognition while junior goalkeeper Holly Nestle of Mason, Mich. (Mason HS) is a third team honoree who is being recognized for the second time in her career.
Coach Leigh Sears' Dutch won a school-record 18 games this fall and were co-champions of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). The team competed in the NCAA Division III championships.
All three Hope honorees received All-MIAA first team recognition. They will also join junior teammate Sarah Cochrane of Watertown, Wisc. (Watertown) as captains of the 2006 team.
This is the largest number of Hope all-region honorees in a single season.
