Hope College sophomore catcher Kylee Brouwer of Hudsonville, Mich. (Hudsonville HS) has been voted a Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III softball All-American by the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association.

The announcement was made Thursday, May 18, as a prelude to the NCAA Division III championships beging played in Raleigh, N.C.

Brouwer has been named a third team honoree. She is the fourth Hope catcher to receive All-American honors joining Deb Vashaw (1992 & 1993), Amy Moeckel (1996) and Carrie Scott (1999 and 2001).

The Flying Dutch, coached by Karla Wolters, are coming off their winningest season in school history (32-14). The team won the championship of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and competed in the NCAA's Central Region tournament.

Brouwer guided a pitching staff that posted a 1.97 earned run average and limited opponents to a cumulative .234 batting average. She caught 10 baserunners attempting to steal and had a .986 fielding average.

She topped the team in batting (.448), hits (64), runs scored (48) and triples (5). She struck out only nine times in 163 at-bats and was caught stealing only once in 19 attempts.
