Athletics
As a member of the MIAA and NCAA Division III associations, Hope College sponsors 22 varsity sports for men and women. The college is home to the 2022 NCAA Division III National Championship women’s basketball team.

The Detroit Free Press has included Hope women's basketball coach Brian Morehouse among the state's top sports figures and among the candidates for "Michigan's Best." Each year the newspaper's sports staff invites readers to vote for their favorite sports personality based on accomplishments during the previous year. Balloting is underway through Jan. 18.

Coach Morehouse guided the Flying Dutch to the NCAA Division III championship. He was named the DIII national coach of the year. The team posted a school-record 33-1 mark. All of the team's NCAA tournament victories were gained on the road and five of the six victories came against teams ranked in the top 10 nationally. The winning streak has extended into this season and has extended to 44 games. In 11 seasons Morehouse has compiled a 248-51 (.829) to rank among the winningest NCAA Division III coaches.
