The Hope Summer Repertory Theatre (HSRT), a professional theatre company based in Holland for more than 35 years, is seeking one boy/young man for the role of "Arty" in this summer's production of "Lost in Yonkers" by Neil Simon. Auditions are open to boys of any age and ethnicity who can convincingly look thirteen years old.

Auditions are Saturday, April 21 at 10:00 a.m. in the DeWitt Center main theatre. Please call the 616-395-7600 (weekdays between 10 a.m. and noon and from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm) to reserve an audition appointment. Auditionees should prepare a short poem or monologue (preferably comic and light, Shel Silverstein is perfect). Callbacks will take place on Sunday, April 22 and scheduled sometime after 1:00 pm.

The play is set in Yonkers, New York in 1942. A film of the play was made in 1993 and starred Richard Dreyfuss and Mercedes Reuhl. Note: While the film may give auditionees more information about the time, place and tone of the play, actors should bring themselves to the role rather than attempt to mimic the movie performance.

HSRT makes every attempt to create an enjoyable audition experience for young actors. Auditionees are encouraged to keep the material simple. Rehearsals begin on Monday, June 25. The show opens on Friday, July 20, and has performances the nights of July 21, 26, 28, 31, August 2, 8, and 10 with performances at 8 p.m.

Questions may be e-mailed to hsrt@hope.edu. The DeWitt Center is located at 141 East 12th Street, on Columbia Avenue at 12th Street on the HopeCollege campus.
