The fraternities and sororities at Hope College are sponsoring a goods drive for Child Development Services, and are hoping to involve members of the Holland community in making contributions as well.

The "Stuff the Bus" drive, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, is seeking school supplies and household items for Child Development Services, which is a local non-profit agency that provides child care and Head Start services to more than 500 children in OttawaCounty and northern Allegan County.

Donations will be collected on Saturday, Sept. 22, from noon to 4 p.m. in the parking lot across from the DeWitt Center on Columbia Avenue between 11th and 12th streets. Donations may also be dropped off in advance during weekday business hours at the college's Office of Student Development on the main floor of the DeWitt Center.

Suggested school supplies include Crayola washable markers, cotton balls, dry-erase markers, glue bottles, glue sticks, tissue paper, clear contact paper, crayons, chalk, masking tape, craft sticks, pipe cleaners, Crayola watercolor paints, google eyes and colored pencils. Suggested household items include shampoo, conditioner, diapers, children's underwear (sizes 3T to 6), paper towels, laundry detergent, fabric softener, dish soap, bleach, napkins, paper plates, body wash, shaving cream, hand lotion, toothpaste, toilet paper, deodorant, facial tissues, Q-Tips and soap.

The college's Greek system includes seven fraternities and seven sororities, most local and two national. The organizations engage in a variety of service activities throughout the school year.
