The Hope College Symphonette will perform "Classical Masterworks," featuring faculty member Sarah Hustad Southard in an oboe concerto, on Friday, Feb. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

Southard will be featured on the "Concerto for Oboe and Orchestra," by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Southard, who joined the Hope music faculty as instructor of oboe in fall 2007, previously taught at the University of Michigan-Flint and Northern Kentucky University. In addition to her collegiate teaching, she keeps an active studio of area oboists and has enjoyed working with many youth programs like the InterlochenCenter for the Arts All State Orchestra, the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble and the Wisconsin Youth.

The program will also include the "Symphony No. 100" (Military), by Joseph Haydn, and "Symphony No. 3" (Eroica), by Ludwig Van Beethoven.

The Symphonette is directed this semester by Gabe Southard of the Hope music faculty.

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located at 277 College Ave., on College Avenue at 12th Street.
