Both Hope College tennis teams have received All-Academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for the 2007-08 academic year.

To qualify for the award, the team needed to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20. 

Both teams earlier were named to the Academic Honor Roll of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).  Coach Karen Page's Flying Dutch had a cumulative 3.428 GPA during the 2007-08 school year while coach Steve Gorno's Flying Dutchmen compiled a cumulative 3.351 GPA.

An unprecedented 13 Hope players received recognition as ITA Scholar Athletes for maintaining a minimum cumulative 3.50 GPA.

Honored for the third year was John Schlotz of Kirkwood, Mo. (Kirkwood HS).

Hope's other ITA Scholar Athletes are Bradley Boelkins of Ada, Mich. (Forest Hills Central HS), Lucy Himes of Grand Blanc, Mich. (L.M. Power Catholic HS), Christine Garcia of Battle Creek, Mich. (BC Central HS), Katherine Garcia of Battle Creek, Mich. (BC Central HS), Marissa Kooyers of Holland, Mich. (Holland Christian HS), Jonathan Lautz of Wheaton, Ill. (Wheaton North HS), Katherine Oosting of Alma, Mich. (Alma HS), John Pelton of Rock Hill, S.C. (Midland, Mich. HS), Kathryn Sawyer of Batavia, Ill. (Batavia HS), Nicole Spagnuolo of Okemos, Mich. (Okemos HS), Jeff Vredenburg of Grand Rapids (Forest Hills Northern HS), and Kallie Walker of Lake Odessa, Mich. Lakewood HS). 

Christine Garcia is a 2008 Hope graduate.  Pelton and Schlotz will be seniors in 08-09.  Himes, Kooyers, Vredenburg and Walker will be juniors while Boelkins, Katherine Garcia, Lautz, Oosting, Sawyer, and Spagnuolo will be sophomores.
