Hope College and the Holland Youth Symphony Orchestras have created a new opportunity for wind players.

The West Michigan Youth Wind Ensemble (WMYWE) is open by audition to students in grades eight-12 who play flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, horn, trombone, baritone, tuba and percussion, as well as one spot for piano and harp.  Members of WMYWE will rehearse and perform some of most well known repertoire for wind band and have a chance to make new friends with other talented musicians in the area.

WMYWE rehearses on Thursday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. on the Hope campus and will perform two or three times over the year.  The group is conducted by Dr. Gabe Southard, the director of bands at Hope College.
