Hope senior Seth Weener of Grandville, Mich. (Grandville HS) will compete in the NCAA Division III national cross country championships in Hanover, Ind. on Saturday, Nov. 22.

Weener will be one of 56 individual runners competing in the field of
280 competitors in the 8,000-meter race to be hosted at Hanover
College.   The other competitors will come from 32 qualifying teams.
The race begins at 11 a.m. ET.

The top seven individual competitors in each regional race, not
associated with a qualifying team, advanced to nationals.  Weener was
the seventh individual finisher at the Great Lakes regional finishing
15th overall among the 240 runners.

He will be competing at the national meet for the second time in his
career.  In 2006 he finished 205th at nationals.

He becomes the fifth male Hope runner to qualify for nationals as an
individual more than once.  He joins Lindsey Dood (1984-85-86), Bryan
Whitmore (1988-89), Aaron Bruininks (1991-93), and Joe Veldman
(1999-2000),

The 2008 NCAA Division III meet marks the second time Hanover College
has hosted the nationals.  The previous time was in 2003.
