The public is invited to both events.  Admission is free.

The Women's Chamber Choir will perform with Luminescence and 12th Street Harmony on Monday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

The Women's Chamber Choir will perform music both sacred (Psalm 150, two spirituals and an Eskimo prayer) and secular (songs of boats and the sea, including one about a woman pirate). They will be accompanied by Lannette Zylman-TenHave, pianist, and joined by Sarah Southard, oboe, and Jessalyn Bolkema, cello.

Luminescence will span the decades with "Love Me Tender," "Killing Me Softly" and "Summertime"; 12th Street's set will include "Down" and "Change in my Life"; and the two groups will team up to sing "Africa."

The Women's Chamber Choir will perform later the same week in a joint concert with the Calvin College Women's Chorale under the direction of Pearl Shangkuan. The concert (unofficially billed as "the anti-rivalry") will take place on Friday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Memorial Church.
