Three members of the Hope College baseball team have been named to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) coaches' all-conference teams.

Three members of the Hope College baseball team have been named to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) coaches' all-conference teams.

Senior Robby Poll of Grandville (Grandville HS) has been named the first team utility player while catcher Jon Ponte, a sophomore from Novi (Dearborn Divine Child HS) and sophomore shortstop Chris Mattson of Muskegon (Mona Shores HS) are second team honorees.

Poll excelled as a pitcher and the team's designated hitter. In MIAA games he posted a 5-2 record with a league-leading 55 strikeouts in 45 innings. He batted .380 against conference opponents. For the entire season he was 7-2 with a 3.36 earned run average striking out 66 batters over 59 innings. He batted a team-leading .412.

Ponte ranked third in the league in RBIs (29 in 28 games) and batted .358 on the season. Mattson batted .328 overall with a team-leading 16 extra base hits.

The Flying Dutchmen, coached by Stu Fritz, finished second in the MIAA standings and posted an overall 28-12 record.
