The department of music at Hope College will feature its annual Music Scholarship Winners' Recital on Thursday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

 The department of music at Hope College will feature its annual Music Scholarship Winners' Recital on Thursday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The recital will feature first-year students who were awarded a music scholarship based on their audition this past February and a 2009 recipient of the award.

Students participating in the concert include freshman Kristin Baron of Holland, organ; freshman Blake Daugherty of Muskegon, percussion; freshman Jared DeMeester of Grand Rapids, bass; freshman Larissa Fall of Grand Rapids, violin; freshman Jennifer Hielkema of Columbus, Ohio, bassoon; freshman Lauren Janness of Troy, oboe; freshman Kelsey O'Brien of Glen Ellyn, Ill., oboe; sophomore Mike Reynolds of Tampa, Fla., 2009 DAA recipient, piano; freshman Austin Roblyer of Plainwell, tenor; freshman James Schippers of Grand Haven, piano; freshman Alexander Stradal of Muskegon, cello; freshman Joseph Wierzbicki of Western Springs, Ill., marimba; and freshman Emily Young of Clinton Township, piano.

Some of the students will be accompanied by pianist Laura Kolean.

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located at 277 College Ave., on College Avenue at 12th Street.
