Hope College will host the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional cross country meet for men and women on Saturday, Nov. 13.

The meet, which will attract nearly 500 runners and an estimated 2,000 spectators, will be run at the West Ottawa Golf Club north of Holland.

The men will compete over an 8K course beginning at 11 a.m. while the women's race will be a 6K starting at noon.

Spectator parking will be at the nearby Ottawa County Intermediate Schools Tech Center. Shuttle buses will transport spectators from the Tech Center to the competition site.  Spectators should arrive at the course at least 30 minutes before the start of the first race.

The meet is expected to attract runners from more than 35 NCAA Division III institutions in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.

Calvin College of the MIAA is the defending men's and women's regional champion. In 2009 Hope finished sixth in the women's regional and 10th in the men's meet.

The runners will be seeking to qualify for the NCAA championships to be held Saturday, Nov. 20 at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.

HopeCollege was host to the NCAA national cross country championships in 1987. Hope hosted NCAA regional meets in 1980 and 1986.
