Athletics
As a member of the MIAA and NCAA Division III associations, Hope College sponsors 22 varsity sports for men and women. The college is home to the 2022 NCAA Division III National Championship women’s basketball team.

The Flying Dutch were ranked 10th in the final 2010 national Division III poll of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

It marks the third straight season that coach Becky Schmidt's Flying Dutch were ranked nationally.

The Flying Dutch posted a 27-5 season record, were co-champions of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and competed in the NCAA tournament for a third consecutive year. Rival Calvin (32-4) is this year's Division III national champion and top-ranked team in the AVCA poll.

During the season Hope won two-of-three meetings against Calvin. Other years of being ranked nationally were: 1997, 7th; 2008, 20th; and 2009, 4th.
