Awards recognizing outstanding performances and contributions to the 2010 Hope College cross country program have been announced by coach Mark Mark Northuis.

The Hope teams had a successful season with each finishing in the top ten at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. The Flying Dutch were second in the final women's standings of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) while the Flying Dutchmen were third in the men's standings. The Flying Dutch qualified as a team for the NCAA Division III national championships, finishing 19th in a field of 32 teams.

    Women:  Emily Fischer, senior from Naperville, Ill. (Naperville Central HS)
    Men:  Nathan Love, junior from Midland (Midland HS)

Most Improved Runners
    Women:  Sharon Hecker, sophomore from Grandville (Grandville HS)
    Men:  Kyle Gibson, junior from Alma (Alma HS)

Rookies of the Year
   Women:  Camille Borst, freshman from Allendale (Allendale HS)
   Men:  Sam Pederson, freshman from Mt. Prospect (Mt. Prospect HS)

Dr. Vandervelde Coaches' Award
   Women:  Sarah Anthony, senior from Mt. Pleasant (Mt. Pleasant HS)
   Men:  Jordan Richardson, senior from Reading (Reading HS)
