Honors for the 2010 volleyball season and captains of the 2011 team have been announced by coach Becky Schmidt.
The Flying Dutch were co-champions of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA), posted an overall 27-5 record and competed in the NCAA Division III championships for the third consecutive year.
Senior Jacie Fiedler of Richmond, Ill. (Richmond Burton HS) was voted the team's most valuable player while sophomore Jessica Maier of Grandville (Jenison HS) was selected the most improved player. Junior Jacqueline Canonoco of Arlington Heights, Ill. (Prospect HS) was presented the team's outstanding contribution award.
Named captains of the 2011 team were sophomore Greer Bratschie of Grand Rapids (East Grand Rapids HS), sophomore Courtney Earles of Kentwood (East Kentwood HS) and junior Jacqueline Canonoco of Arlington Heights, Ill. (Prospect HS).
