Four members of the 2010 Hope College women's cross country team have received All-Academic accolades in cross country from the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association of America.
Four members of the 2010 Hope College women's cross country team have received All-Academic accolades in cross country from the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association of America.
The USTFCCCA All-Academic award honors those student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and athletically. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.3 cumulative grade point average and must finish in the top 35 among the field at their respective NCAA regional meet. Only 170 female runners in all of Division III are receiving the recognition.
Hope honorees are freshman Camille Borst of Allendale (Allendale HS), sophomore Sharon Hecker of Grandville (Grandville HS), junior Kelly Luftkin of Houghton (Houghton HS), and junior Karlyn Sikma of Grand Rapids (North Pointe Christian HS).
The Flying Dutch, coached by Mark Northuis, qualified for the NCAA Championships, finishing 19th in a field of 32 teams. The team finished second at the Great Lakes Regional and were runnersup in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championships.
