Hope College senior softball player Susan (Suzie) Stevenson has been honored for excellence in both the classroom and on the field of play.

The chemistry major and German minor from Granger, Ind. (Penn HS) is a first team honoree on the ESPN The Magazine academic all-district college division softball team.

A four-year letterwinner and three-year starter, the last two seasons at first base, Stevenson maintained a sparkling 3.90 grade point average and was named to Phi Beta Kappa, the college's highest academic honor.  This past season she batted .365 and had a .981 fielding average. She started in 118 consecutive games and posted a .360 career batting average and .983 field percentage.

A graduate of Penn High School in Mishawaka, Ind., she is the daughter of Robert and Linda Stevenson of Granger, Ind.

Stevenson is the only player from the MIAA to receive all-district recognition.

The Academic All-American program is sponsored by the College Sports Information Directors Association of America (CoSIDA).
