The Hope College Wind Ensemble will present its first concert of the 2011-12 season on Friday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

"If you've never seen the Wind Ensemble before, this concert would be a great way to introduce yourself to Hope College's premiere wind and brass group," said director Gabe Southard, assistant professor of music at Hope.

The program, titled "Band Classics 5," is part of a continuing series that focuses on the standard repertoire for the Wind Ensemble.  The works include: "First Suite in Eb for Military Band," by Gustav Holst; "Children's March," by Percy Grainger; "Trauermusik," by Richard Wagner; and "Morning Alleluias," by Ron Nelson.

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located at 277 College Ave., on College Avenue at 12th Street.
