HOLLAND - The Hope College Concert Series will feature S. Carey on Thursday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m. at the Knickerbocker Theatre in downtown Holland.

S. Carey (Sean Carey) will headline the show with a full band, featuring a variety of instruments and band members. Carey will draw mainly from his debut album, "All We Grow."

Carey is well known for his involvement in the band Bon Iver. He was one of the key creative minds in the formation of Bon Iver's newest self-titled album, and he currently serves as a drummer, vocalist, and co-bandleader for the band.

In his own group, however, he provides lead vocals as well as a variety of instruments. His classical training, coupled with his songwriting ability, creates a unique and powerful sound.

"Venuszine" recounted how one of S. Carey's live performances "left the audience in awed silence at the beauty and fragility of the band's intricate cohesion."  The BBC has said of Carey's album, "The intimacy doesn't come from quietness, but from reactive, well-built and emotive arrangements."

Tickets for the concert are $10 for the general public and $3 for Hope students.  Public tickets are available for purchase online at https://tickets.hope.edu/ticketing as well as at the ticket office in the main lobby of the DeVos Fieldhouse. The ticket office is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and can be called at (616) 395-7890. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door, which will open at 7:30 p.m.

The DeVos Fieldhouse is located at 222 Fairbanks Avenue, between Ninth and 11th streets. The Knickerbocker Theatre is located in downtown Holland at 86 E. Eighth St.
