Hope's string of six consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division III women's basketball tournament has come to an end.

Hope's string of six consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division III women's basketball tournament has come to an end.

The Flying Dutch, who posted a 22-5 record this season and were second to rival Calvin in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) standings, were not part of the 64-team field announced by the NCAA this afternoon.

The Flying Dutch, coached by Brian Morehouse, were hoping for an at-large berth in the 64-team field. It would have been the team's 14th appearance all-time.

Rival Calvin, who received the MIAA's automatic berth in the tournament, will host first and second round games this Friday and Saturday. The field includes Wisconsin-Lutheran, UW-Stevens Point and Franklin, Ind.

Hope College will be the site of the women's final four the weekend of March 16-17.
