Hope College will present its annual spring student dance concert series across a total of four nights during the weeks of April 16 and 23.

On Monday and Tuesday, April 16 and 17, at 8 p.m., the first of the two concert series will take place at the Dow Center in the dance studio theater. The second of the dance concert series will take place on Monday and Tuesday, April 23 and 24, at 8 p.m. at the Knickerbocker Theatre in downtown Holland.

The public is invited.  Admission is free at both venues.

The concert series will present a variety of dance pieces in the two concert venues over the course of both weekends. All of the works being presented have been created and are danced by Hope College students, who also design and create their own costumes and sound/music scores. The students are mentored by the concert co-producers, dance faculty members Steven Iannacone and Matthew Farmer, and are assisted with lighting and technical design by staff member Erik Alberg, who is the college’s technical director for the performing arts.

The works are being selected for each venue by guest adjudicator Luise Wykell, who is a dance graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison; founder and artistic director of Luise Wykell & Dancers (NYC); a former guest with Murray Louis Dance; and a nationally known teacher and performer. In addition, Wykell will provide individual evaluations and suggestions to each of the choreographers, giving them new insight into their work.

The Knickerbocker Theater is located at 86 E. Eighth St. The Dow Center dance studio is on the second floor of the Dow Center, located at 168 E. 13th St., on the corner of 13th Street and Columbia Avenue.
