IDT will present its annual dance concert at Hope College on Thursday-Saturday, April 12-14, at 8 p.m. at the Knickerbocker Theatre in downtown Holland.

IDT (InSync Dance Theatre), is directed by Amanda Smith-Heynen, and is also a resident company of Hope College.

IDT’s performance will include pieces by three guest choreographers. One is contemporary tap choreographed by Diane Gudat, who is a nationally recognized master teacher, choreographer and adjudicator.  Another is by Crystal Frasier, who is a new faculty member in the department of dance and a company member for Rennie Harris Puremovement, who has choreographed a hip hop piece and an Afro-fusion piece.  Another is by Dorrell Martin, who is the founder of Joffrey Jazz and is a past guest teacher for Hope, who choreographed a contemporary jazz piece titled “Electric Counterpoint.”

This year IDT is also presenting a contemporary ballet called “Passage” and a “Jazz Through the Ages” piece, both choreographed by Amanda Smith-Heynen. In addition, Molly Vass, a Hope senior from Valparaiso, Ind.., who has been a member of IDT for the last three years, is choreographing a tap piece titled “Listen.”

Also for the program, IDT is bringing back from last year Smith’s piece titled “Shout and Feel It,” with music by Count Basie. It is a “buck and wing”-style tap piece, harkening to the roots of tap.
