Hope College Theatre will perform “Ring around the Moon” by Jean Anouilh, adapted by Christopher Fry, on Friday-Saturday, April 20-21, and Wednesday-Saturday, April 25-28, at 8 p.m. in the DeWitt Center main theatre.

Jean Anouilh’s “Ring around the Moon” is a wistfully romantic French comedy dealing with issues of social class and love.  “Ring around the Moon” is directed by Daina Robins, professor of theatre and chair of the department of theatre.

“We hope to produce a lovely spring romp to close our academic season,” Robins said.  “We’ve set the play in the 1930s, which should translate into a lovely set, elegant costumes, and fun music from the period’s Hot Club of France.  And, of course, lighting effects must include a moon.”

The production is choreographed by Matthew Farmer, assistant professor of dance.  Scene and properties are designed by Richard L. Smith, professor of theatre. Costume design is done by Michelle Bombe, professor of theatre, and makeup design by sophomore Alexa Duimstra of Appleton, Wis.  Lighting and sound design will be done by Perry Landes, associate professor of theatre, with technical direction by Paul K. Anderson and stage management by senior Brittni Nowicki of West Bloomfield.  The assistant stage managers are sophomore Bradley Hamilton of Lathrop Village and freshman Bridget McCarthy of Grand Haven.

The cast includes junior Skyler Adams of Holland; junior Lydia Blickley of Grand Rapids; freshman Austen Boer of Holland; junior Erik Durham of Holland; sophomore Kelly Eubank of Louisville, Ky.; sophomore Lauren Ezzo of Haslett; junior Haley Hodges of Hart; sophomore Solange Kealey of Merton, Wis.; sophomore Angelica Kurtz of Streamwood, Ill.; freshman Alex Sloan of Ann Arbor; senior John Telfer of Lyons Township, Ill.; and senior Christoff Visscher of Silver Spring, Md.
