The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has lauded three Hope student-athletes with weekly honors for games played through Oct. 6.

Two are football players — linebacker Cody Lindemulder and Hope punter Dean DeVries, while the other is women’s cross country runner Casey Campbell.

Lindemulder, a junior from Mulliken (Lake Odessa Lakewood HS), is the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week.

He made 14 tackles, including two tackles for loss and two sacks, to lead Hope’s defense in a 17-14 loss to Adrian.

Lindemulder is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

DeVries, a sophomore from Grand Rapids (Grandville HS), is the MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week.

DeVries earned Player of the Week honors for the second straight week as he averaged 43.1 yards on nine punts in Hope’s loss to Adrian. He placed two punts inside the opponents’ 15-yard-line and had a long punt of 60 yards.

DeVries is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time in his career.

Campbell, a sophomore from Swartz Creek (Swartz Creek HS), is the MIAA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Campbell led the Flying Dutch to a first-place finish in the 26-team Blue Division at the Greater Louisville Classic in Kentucky, placing 13th in 18:45.69 on a rain-soaked course. She had the fastest time among non-Division I runners in the race.

Campbell is being honored as Runner of the Week for the first time in her career.
