Autumn Anderson

Centerfielder Autumn Anderson of the Hope College softball team has been chosen NCAA Division III Second Team All-Region By the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

The sophomore from Wayland, Michigan (Wayland HS), was one of 45 players honored in the Central Region and one of 15 Second Team picks in the Central Region.

Anderson hit a team-best .419 this season. She led the Flying Dutch with 136 at-bats, 57 hits and 40 runs scored. She totaled 14 extra-base hits with eight doubles, a team-high four triples and one home run.

Anderson, who batted leadoff, also contributed 18 RBIs and stole nine bases in 13 attempts.

The NFCA All-Region teams are nominated and selected by NFCA member coaches in each of the eight Division III regions.

Earlier, Anderson was selected All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association First Team for the second time in her career. 

Anderson batted .473 in 16 MIAA games this season to finish third in the league batting race. She tied for first in the MIAA with 26 hits and 19 runs scored as she helped Hope place second in the regular-season standings and league tournament.
