Hope softball player Autumn Anderson

Hope College softball players Autumn Anderson and Sammi Adams both have been named All-MIAA First Team for the 2015 season.

The two outfielders are among 12 players to receive first-team recognition by the league’s coaches. 

Anderson, who plays centerfield, is one of three players to earn All-MIAA First Team honors for the third time in her career. The junior from Dorr, Michigan (Wayland HS), batted .464 in 16 MIAA games to help the Flying Dutch tie for second place.

Anderson tied for second in league play with 26 hits and tied third with 21 runs scored.

Adams, who plays rightfield, is a first-time All-MIAA honoree. The sophomore from Griffith, Indiana (Griffith HS), finished second in the league with a .525 batting average and was fourth with a .548 on-base percentage.

Hope designated player Julie Sobieski and pitcher Sydney Jones both made All-MIAA Second Team.

Sobieski tied for second with six home runs in MIAA games. The senior from St. Charles, Illinois (St. Charles East HS), also tied for fourth with 43 total bases and 22 RBI.

Jones tied for fifth with five wins in league play. The freshman from South Lyon, Michigan (South Lyon East HS), was fifth with a 2.33 earned run average.
