Heather Roden, events and business operations manager at Hope College, has received the Patrick Perfetto Volunteer of the Year Award from The Association of Collegiate Conference and Events Directors-International (ACCED-I).

Roden was honored during the group’s annual conference, held in Portland, Oregon, on Sunday-Wednesday, March 13-16.

The award recognizes an ACCED-I member who contributes time and talents to the association at any level and/or to ACCED-I headquarters to significantly add value to the association, its programs and services.  Lisa Salazar, president of ACCED-I, said that “through her joyful and intentional service whenever and wherever she is needed, Heather sets a quiet example of a true servant leader.”

Roden, a 1998 Hope College graduate, has been employed at Hope since 1999 and is a member of the Events and Conferences Office. She has been involved with ACCED-I since 2001 and served on the board of directors from 2010 to 2015. She was a regional director from 2007 to 2009 for five states, and is currently regional director for 12 states and four Canadian provinces.  She has presented and volunteered at the national conference, co-chaired the 2010 Annual Conference Hospitality Committee, and been a committee member for the associations’ “2-Minute Survey.”

ACCED-I consists of more than 1,500 campus professionals who design, market, coordinate and plan conferences and special events on the campuses of colleges and universities around the world.  Since 1980, ACCED-I has worked to increase the visibility and enhance the stature of the collegiate conference and events profession.
