Hope College’s Claire Hallock has been chosen the recipient of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Sue Little Sportsmanship Award for the 2018 season.

The sophomore from Lakeland, Florida (Harrison Center HS) is the 14th different Flying Dutch player to earn the honor that is in memory of Sue Little, a 1954 graduate of Albion College.

Hope student-athletes have claimed the award a total of 17 times with Anna Garcia (2015-16) and Audrey Coates (1995, 1997) as multiple recipients.

Hallock plays No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Flying Dutch.

Head coach Bob Cawood said Hallock — also an All-MIAA First Team selection — exemplifies the values of the MIAA.

“How you win and how you lose tells a lot about someone’s character,” Cawood said. “Claire plays with class. I am extremely proud of Claire for representing herself, her family and Hope tennis to such high standards.”
