Hope College’s Danny Kroeze and Mark VanderStoep have earned All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association First Team honors for the 2018 season from the league’s coaches.
They are among six first-team selections.
In addition, Hope junior Michael Kiley of Muskegon, Michigan (Mona Shores HS) received
second-team recognition.
Kroeze posted a 5-2 record at No. 1 singles in MIAA matches for the Flying Dutchmen.
The sophomore from Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) also finished with a 4-1
record in doubles play at the top flight. VanderStoep was his primary partner.
VanderStoep went 6-1 at No. 2 singles for Hope. The junior from Holland, Michigan
(West Ottawa) had a 6-1 doubles record in MIAA matches.
“Danny has done very well at the 1 singles and 1 doubles position,” head coach Bob
Cawood said. “He is an incredible competitor. He has taken advantage of his left-handed
game style. With Danny only being a sophomore, it excites me for the future years.
“Mark has competed hard all year long. To play at the top of the line-up at 2 singles
and 1 doubles, you are always going to be playing great competition. Mark competes
no matter the opponent. Mark and Danny at the 1 doubles position is a formidable force.”
