Four Hope College swimmers and one diver have received national academic honors from College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America.

The CSCAA award recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher while excelling in competition in the pool during the 2017-18 season.

Swimmers Sydney Asselin of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn), Meg Peel of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake), and Emma Schaefer of DeWitt, Michigan (St. Johns) were among 1,069 first-team Scholar All-Americans.

To qualify, student-athletes must have a 3.50 GPA or higher and have qualified for NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Championships.

Diver Brian Simonich of Highland, Michigan (Milford) was one of 1,137 student-athletes to earn honorable-mention status.

To qualify for honorable-mention honors, student-athletes must achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at an NCAA Regional or Zone Diving qualifier.

Last month, both the Flying Dutch and Flying Dutchmen claimed CSCAA Scholar All-America honors for the Spring 2018 semester

The Flying Dutch posted a 3.67 GPA - the eighth-best among NCAA Division III women's honorees.

The Flying Dutchmen finished with a 3.51 GPA - the ninth-highest among Division III men's recipients
