Hope College forward Francesca Buchanan has been chosen as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

The senior from Grant, Michigan (Sparta HS) was honored after averaging 16.0 points and 9.5 rebounds during a two-game run to a Tip-Off Classic title the Flying Dutch hosted.

This is the first time this season Buchanan has received the award and the fifth time in her Hope career.

On Saturday, Buchanan posted a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds during a 69-50 victory against Benedictine University (Illinois) in the Tip-Off Classic championship game at DeVos Fieldhouse.

On Friday, Buchanan scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds during a 19-31 victory against MacMurray College (Illinois).

Buchanan dished out four assists while committing just one turnover during the tournament for the third-ranked Flying Dutch.
