Hope College’s Joshua Izenbart has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.
The sophomore of Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor HS) is being recognized for
the first time after winning the decathlon at the Hillsdale College Gina Relays last
weekend.
Izenbart recorded a winning score of 6,207 points.
He posted the top decathlon performances in the high jump at 2.01 meters (6 feet,
7 inches), discus toss at 32.42 meters (106-4), javelin throw at 50.78 meters (166-6),
the 100 meters at 11.72 seconds, the 400 meters at 52.12 seconds, the 1,500 meters
at 4:48.76, and the 110 hurdles at 15.79 seconds.
Izenbart also finished second in the long jump at 5.92 meters (19-5 1/2) and the shot
put at 11.02 meters (36-2), and fourth in the pole vault at 3.0 meters (9-10).
